Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

My wife and I visited Secrets Akumal for seven nights in late January. We flew into Cancun and took USA Transfer to Akumal, about an hour and twenty minutes. Now that Tulum has an airport it would be much faster to fly into Tulum and transfer to Akumal. Check in was smooth and seamless. We booked a preferred room with an ocean view, this gave us access to the preferred club, an area with a separate bar and small bites of food available from 0700-2300. We definitely felt it was worth the extra cost. Our room was excellent. Housekeeping was thorough and the turn down service was nice.The resort is  visually spectacular. The grounds are lush and immaculate, the beach is beautiful. The water is calm and the snorkeling is great. There is always something going on but no pressure to participate. There is a quiet pool if all you want to do is chill. We spent our time on the beach. We had no problems securing lounge chairs. The food is very good and there are many restaurants to choose from. The French and Italian require reservations. The spa and gym are well appointed. The resort is 5 stars but the people are 10 stars.We've been fortunate enough to travel to more than a few AI resorts but I can say with confidence that the service at Secrets Akumal was  the best we've ever  experienced. It takes an incredible amount of work to keep a resort running at this level. Everyone, and I mean everyone, we encountered were friendly and helpful. Everyone from the GM of the resort to the guys raking the beach deserve a round of applause. Those who deserve  special  recognition: Mario, one of the bartenders at the preferred club, was engaging, funny and great to talk to. Cheers, my friend. Diego at the preferred place was welcoming and always helpful. Raul, our waiter at the surf side grill, made our last night very special. From the off menu request, his spot on recommendations to the special dessert he brought us, Raul was engaging  and knowledgeable. A true professional.  The star of our show was Francisco, our concierge. While we knew Francisco was busy with other guests  he always made us feel like we were  the only guests. Friendly, warm , caring and always helpful. Francisco deserves a promotion and a raise! Thank you Francisco, Diego, Raul, Mario and the rest of the staff for making this a memorable experience

We just got back from our trip to Secrets Akumal in Riviera Maya, Mexico and it was an amazing trip from start to finish. The resort is beautiful, the rooms were very nice, and the service was absolutely top notch. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The food was exceptional, easily some of the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive resort. Every meal was great and consistently impressive. I highly recommend the steakhouse! The only small downside is that the landscaping and layout can make it a little difficult at times to figure out where you are or where you’re going, but after a day you get used to it. Overall, this was an incredible experience and we would highly recommend this Secrets resort to anyone looking for an amazing stay in Mexico.

We had an amazing time at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. From start to finish, everything felt special and relaxing. The food was excellent, the drinks were wonderful, and the service throughout the resort was truly top-notch. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Beach service on the preferred side was occasionally a bit slow and seemed slightly understaffed; however, the team working there clearly did the best they could and remained friendly and professional. I think adding one or two additional staff members to beach service would make an already great experience even better. A huge highlight of our stay was our building concierge, Karen in Building 6. She was absolutely incredible — helpful, attentive, and genuinely caring. Since this was our honeymoon, she surprised us by decorating our room with flowers, which was such a thoughtful and touching gesture. She truly made our stay unforgettable. The spa was also incredibly relaxing. We did a couples massage, and it was one of the most peaceful and enjoyable spa experiences we’ve had. Highly recommend! Overall, we loved our time here so much that we’ve already booked our return trip. Secrets Akumal is a beautiful, special place, and we can’t wait to come back.

I have never been waited on like this, I felt like a Disney princess. When they say all inclusive they mean it! All the room service woth no extra fees. Definitely download the hotel app and you will see how many options you have. For example you can even choose from a dozen different pillow designs/shapes and they will send the one you want to your room. The staff are so nice, I could gush about them forever. To top it all off if you need some quiet time, they have mini trails with benches, chairs and hammocks to relax, surrounded by beautiful tropical plants. I rate them 10 out of 5!

We cannot say enough good things about this resort. The staff, the grounds, the amenities absolutely everything here is amazing. We've stayed at several other Secret's resorts and this is by the best one yet! They literally have thought of everything. The staff...top notch, amazing people. Almost everyone we came into contact with greeted us in some way, shape or form. Asked us how we were, if we needed anything and were genuine when asking. It was such a breath of fresh air to be treated to excellent customer service. We loved it here so much that we are considering bringing our adult children here for family vacation!

We had an amazing time snorkeling! MAX AND ARI were wonderful! Helpful, fun, made sure we were doing well! Top notch service The resort is beautiful. Wonderful service. The beach is amazing. Some resort beaches aren’t really accessible or very rocky. Great Here! We are here on a business/pleasure trip and everyone is having a wonderful time!

My Husband and I visited the resort for our late honeymoon and were blown away by the service. Before we had even arrived, we were contacted by the incredible Cici who reached out to confirm any dietary requirements (We are both Vegetarians, and i have an allergy to Avocado) as well as sort out holiday extra’s such as room decorations, arrival times etc. Once we had arrived, the team at secrets were very attentive in ensuring we felt right at home. Cici introduced us to the Dietary Team Lead Santiago who would continuously check we were okay with Food options and if the Hotel could accommodate us in any way. We were continuously reassured that all a la carte resturants would have options for us and if we wanted something else the chefs would be able to make this for us. When we visited Himatsu (the Pan Asian restaurant) the Chef’s were able to make Vegetable Gyoza’s, Tofu Pad Thai, Tofu Thai Green Curry and this was only because we had requested it. Overall, the hotel is very attentive in ensuring that any dietary requirements are accounted for, and as strict Vegetarian’s, my husband and I did not go hungry this trip. Our building concierge, Diana was fab in making sure we had plans for each evening, she would continuously check in to ensure we were okay and if there was anything she could do. She also worked with the hotel to make sure our room was decorated to celebrate our honeymoon. The pool staff were incredible in making sure we had sun beds and were not in the sun for too long. The entertainment at this resort is 10/10, all the staff go above and beyond to get you involved. Shout out to Carlos for taking us on the most Magical Turtle experience. Our holiday at secrets would not have been the same if it weren’t for Cici, Diana and Santiago! If you’re visiting the resort, know you are in safe hands, it’s the best resort I’ve visited.

We had the most incredible stay at Secrets Akumal — truly the perfect mix of fun and relaxation. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless, beautiful, and thoughtfully done. The resort itself is stunning, the atmosphere is peaceful yet lively, and we never once felt like anything was lacking. The food was amazing — every meal exceeded our expectations, from beautifully prepared dishes to the variety of restaurants and flavors. Portofino and Bordeaux were our favorite spots — absolutely delicious and a must-try! Whether it was breakfast, lunch by the pool, or dinner at the restaurants, everything was consistently high quality. The entertainment staff made both the days and nights so much fun. From daytime activities by the pool to the incredible evening shows, they brought such great energy and kept things lively without ever being over the top. The shows were absolutely amazing — engaging, impressive, and something we looked forward to every night. We especially want to thank the swim-up bartenders Eduardo and Ivan — they were both fantastic! Always friendly, fun, and incredibly attentive. Eduardo in particular made every day at the pool even better with his great personality and attention to detail — he truly made our experience feel extra special. Ivan was equally wonderful, and together they made the pool bar one of our favorite spots at the resort. A huge thank you as well to Osuna, the pool concierge, who was incredibly helpful and attentive — always checking in, making sure we were comfortable, and going above and beyond. And to the amazing pool staff Luis and Cruz — hands down the best service we’ve ever had. Constant smiles, quick service, and genuine care that made us feel so well taken care of. Our concierge Gina was wonderful and made everything so easy for us throughout the trip. And the spa experience was unreal — the best massages we’ve ever had. My massage with Ana was absolutely perfect, and my boyfriend loved his just as much (might be Brianna, he can’t remember, but she was incredible!). Every single staff member we encountered was kind, professional, and truly made us feel special. We were genuinely sad to leave, which says everything — but we will absolutely be back.
